観る者の心を揺さぶり、脳裏に焼き付くアート・ピースたち。世界的トイ・カルチャーの祭典「Designer Toy Awards 2014」にて3部門受賞を果たすなど、現在注目のアーティストcoarseのエキシビションがDIESEL ART GALLERYにて開催される。
ドイツ・ハンブルクと香港に所在するスタジオにて、「現実世界の深い感情」をテーマにした、流れるようなフォルムの彫刻作品を手作業によって創出するcoarse。今回の展示では、彼らの代表作となる『Noop World』、『Souls Gone Mad』シリーズに登場するさまざまなキャラクターを通して、友情が衰え、純潔さを閉じ、復讐心が潜在する挑発的なありのままの瞬間を捕えた物語を表現している。また、独自の世界観をより一層色濃くする、等身大のフィギュアや映像作品、フクロウの形をしたアイコニックなキャラクターOmenの日本限定バージョンなども展示され、ミステリアスな空間を演出する。
近年では、Amnesty Internationalと共にコラボレーション・アイテムを制作するなど、ますます精力的に活動するcoarse。彼らの手によって生み出された現代的な彫刻作品は、観るものを物語の世界へ引き込み、人間の本心を問いかけてくるだろう。
Art pieces that move the viewers hearts and leave a lasting mark on their minds—DIESEL ART GALLERY will host an exhibition by artists coarse who are receiving much recognition including three awards at the Designer Toy Awards 2014, an international festival of toy culture.
In their studios in Hamburg, Germany and Hong Kong, coarse handcrafts sleek sculptures that are themed on "deep emotions in the real world." In this exhibition, various characters from their widely known Noop World and Souls Gone Mad series act out stories that capture raw, provocative moments where friendships deteriorate, purity ends and vengeance lie hidden. The unique narrative is reinforced by the exhibition of life-size figures, videos and a Japan only version of the iconic owl-shaped character Omen, which add up to create a mysterious atmosphere.
coarse has widened the scope of their activities ever more in recent years, with projects including creating collaboration items with Amnesty International. The contemporary sculptures created by the duo will draw viewers into the story and attempt to expose the human soul.
